English-language sources are spinning it as the Russians pushed the SAA to do big offenses as soon as possible when they started supporting them, but the SAA has over-extended and opened themselves up to these counter-attacks.

What is your take on the overall situation in Syria, LoooSeR?

I think it would be Russians and Iranians, who pushed this. Iranian officers are presented in SAA in noticeable numbers, which is one of reasons why 20+ of them were killed in recent month.

Currently, SAA, NDF and others groups are still advancing and gaining ground in overal, but in some places terrorists are trying to find weakspots. In Morek, they managed to do that. Until Iran is going through sanctions lifting process, they will not send too much troops, and we will use similar tactics as our Army used in early stage of Ukrainian conflict - very small number of troops that currently are "testing" ground and overal situation in Syria.

Lebanese Resistanse ("Al-Mukomwa", "Hezbollah") is most efficient force on the ground, but they don't have numbers to much militants. NDF is hit-or-miss - some of those militias are just yesterday farmers, but there are several militias, who are pretty capable. SAA is in between Al-Mukomwa and NDF, with Republican Guards being better forces of SAA, that are capable to do hard operations. Lebanese Resistance is training Syrian Resistance ("Muqawama Souri" or "Mukomwa Suri"), which already done some operations, but thier numbers are also low.

SAA needs more planes in CAS role, more artillery with better trained crews, better tanks. Lack of UAVs, thermal imagers is another, maybe even bigger problem. Partially, our specialists and Iranians are in process of solving those problems. Number of our planes in Syria is on lower side (not enough), but that is a result of SAA not having valuable airports. Kwueiris is under siege, Deir-Ez-zor is surrounded by ISIS with nearest towns being about 1 km away (easy to hit planes in airport with mortars and RPGs/recoiless rifles) and others are under control of slippers-wearers. This might be a reason why SAA conduct push to Kwueiris airport with aim to clear area around, possibly it will be a base for helicopters in future.

Currently, SAA, Quds and both Hezbollahs (Al-Mukomwa and Kataib Hezbollah) are aiming at taking Aleppo.

Main frontline for Syria now is in Latakia and other Northen parts of country. Cutting terrorists (including ISIS) from Turkey and retaking control of this part of country is more important than bombing ISIS at this point. Complete destruction of terrorists cells near Damascus (Harasta, Duma, Zamalka, Jobar) will frees a lot of SAA troops for more important tasks.

Re-taking Palmyra will open way to Deir-ez-Zor. Re-taking Salma (in Latakia province) will seriously hit insurgents ability to fight, and it will open a way to cut parts of them from Turkey. Aleppo and Idlib are major cities, they are targets for military and economical reasons. Generally speaking main target now is re-taking Turkish-Syrian border under SAA control, re-taking major cities in northen Syria, clearing space, bases and highways to establish better logistics and create space for forces deplyement. All this is will be very usefull in fight with ISIS, as SAA now simply don't have reasources to win ISIS (it can fight and hold ground against it, but not to push and win).
