Syrian Army and Hezbollah Capture Tal Mamou and ‘Aziziyah in Southern Aleppo

The Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division – in coordination with Hezbollah, the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Aleppo City, Kataebat Al-Ba’ath (Al-Ba’ath Battalions), and several Iraqi and Iranian paramilitary units – imposed full control over the villages of Tal Mamou and ‘Aziziyah in the Aleppo Governorate’s southern countryside after intense firefights with the Islamist rebels from the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra”, Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki, and Liwaa Suqour Al-Sham this morning.

According to a battlefield journalist reporting from southern Aleppo, the Syrian Armed Forces, Hezbollah, and their allies launched a powerful assault from their positions at the recently captured village of Kafr Haddad towards the village of ‘Aziziyah; this battle lasted no more than an hour and ended with the Islamist rebels retreating to the nearby village of Tal Mamou.

Not long after losing ‘Aziziyah, the Islamist rebels from Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki, Jabhat Al-Nusra, and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham would retreat from Tal Mamou following a fracture in their frontlines due to the joint assault by the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division and Hezbollah; this loss for the Islamist rebels has allowed for the Syrian Armed Forces to advance west towards the strategic Aleppo-Damascus Highway (M-5 Highway).

On Saturday, the Syrian Armed Forces were able to position themselves for this assault on Tal Mamou and ‘Azizyah after they secured the road leading from Kafr Haddad to the aforementioned villages in the southern Aleppo countryside.

The objective of this Syrian Army offensive is to recapture the towns along the Aleppo-Damascus Highway in order to obstruct the Islamist rebels’ main supply route from the Idlib Governorate to the provincial capital of Aleppo.

http://www.almasdarnews.com/article/battle-for-kuweires-airport-intensifies-as-the-syrian-army-makes-another-push-in-sheikh-ahmad/

SAA resumed push to Kweires base.

Over the last four days, the Kuweires Military Airport front in the Aleppo Governorate’s eastern countryside has remained relatively quiet; however, this changed on Saturday morning, when the Syrian Arab Army’s “Cheetah Forces” restarted their large-scale assault inside the strategic town of Sheikh Ahmad in the Deir Hafer Plains.

According to a battlefield report from the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Aleppo City, the Syrian Arab Army’s Cheetah Forces – in coordination with the NDF and Kataebat Al-Ba’ath (Al-Ba’ath Battalions) – stormed the northern district of Sheikh Ahmad, striking the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) at the rural sector located east of the Aleppo-Baghdad Railway.

The fierce battle between ISIS and the Syrian Armed Forces for control of Sheikh Ahmad continued on Sunday morning, as the Cheetah Forces attempted to bypass the terrorist group’s defenses again; this assault was backed by the Russian Air Force’s powerful airstrikes that not only targeted ISIS’ positions at Sheikh Ahmad, but also, along the Aleppo-Raqqa Highway.

If the Syrian Army can take full control of Sheikh Ahmad from the ISIS militants, they will be in position to lift the two year long siege of the Kuweries Military Airport that was imposed by the terrorist group.

Currently, the Syrian Arab Army is approximately 2,500 meters away from the Kuweries Military Airport, despite not being in full control of Sheikh Ahmad.

Syrian Army Advances on Western Palmyra While Repelling ISIS at Sadad in East Homs

The Syrian Arab Army’s 67th  Brigade of the 18th Tank Division received a big boost this weekend when the battle-hardened 555th Regiment of the 11th Tank Division arrived to the Palmyra front in order to help retake this strategic city located in the vast desert landscape of the Homs Governorate.

On Sunday morning, the 67th Brigade and the 555th Regiment – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Homs City – struck the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham’s (ISIS) defensive positions at village of Qasr Al-Hayr and the eastern groves of Al-Bayarat, killing several enemy combatants from the terrorist group, while also advancing east towards the western countryside of Palmyra.

With these battles taking place near Palmyra, ISIS attempted to take advantage of the Syrian Arab Army’s offensive by launching several attacks on the predominately Syriac Christian town of Sadad; however, the terrorist group ran into fierce resistance from the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), the National Defense Forces of Sadad, and the Gozarto Protection Forces (Assyrian militia from Al-Qamishli).

According to a military source from the SSNP in Homs City, ISIS launched an assault on Tal Sinni near the Sadad-Maheen Checkpoint, but they were unable to recapture this imperative hilltop from the Syrian Social Nationalist Party.

Both the Syrian Armed Forces and ISIS are attempting to gain the upper-hand in east Homs, as they continue conduct massive military operations along this vast desert front.

No idea how accurate is this source, but still:

All4Syria’s source gave a detailed account of the Hezbollah withdrawals carried out in the towns of Bloudan and Al-Maamoura that overlook Zabadani.
“23 Microvans, 14 large Kia vehicles, 16 large Toyotas, two small closed top cars, three Inter trucks, 3 ZiL vehicles full of men, 15 taxis carrying Hezbollah and NDF members and four large transport vehicles [each] big enough for over 200 passengers,” left the two western Qalamoun towns for Damascus, according to the report.
The party’s force that withdrew from the western mountain area included “37 Jeeps, 16 Toyotas, 7 130mm field artillery units, several BMP vehicles and a rocket launchpad,” he said.
Another pro-opposition outlet, carried a similar report Friday, saying that “Hezbollah and Syrian regime forces have withdrawn from the Ayn Ramleh checkpoint and adjacent positions in Zabadani’s western mountains.”
“They have withdrawn from their positions in the western mountain towards the Al-Saroukhiya checkpoint at the town’s entrance and the capital Damascus to make up of the lack of manpower on other fronts,” a media activist who identified himself as Ahmad Yabrudi told

Yabrudi said that the regime had also “withdrawn a large number of its forces and militias from Bloudan, Maamoura and the area around Zabadani to Al-Saroukhiya and Damascus.”

Syrian Army and Hezbollah Capture Talaylat in Southern Aleppo; Moroccan Field Commander Killed

Nearly a half hour after imposing full control over the villages of Tal Mamou and ‘Aziziyah in the Aleppo Governorate’s southern countryside, the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division – in coordination with Hezbollah, the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Aleppo City, the Al-Ba’ath Battalions, and several Iraqi and Iranian paramilitary units – captured the village of Talaylat after a fierce battle with the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra”, Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki, and Liwaa Suqour Al-Sham.

With the capture of Talaylat, the Syrian Armed Forces, Hezbollah, and their allies have taken control three villages in less than three hours while the Islamist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra, Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki, and Liwaa Suqour Al-Sham continue to retreat towards the Aleppo Governorate’s border with Idlib.

Further adding to the plight of the Islamist rebels in southern Aleppo was the announcement of Mohammad Hamdoush’s death – the aforementioned Islamist militant was the lead field commander of Liwaa Al-Mughrabi (Moroccan Brigades), which is an Al-Qaeda affiliated group (Jabhat Al-Nusra branch) that is comprised of only Moroccan combatants.

Mohammad Hamdoush joins a long-list of Islamist rebel leaders killed in this gruesome battle taking place in southern Aleppo – he is also the first Moroccan field commander killed.
