Syrian Army and Hezbollah Make Several Gains in Southern Aleppo While Ahrar Al-Sham Recaptures Talaylat

   The Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division and Hezbollah got off to a quick start on Sunday, capturing three villages from the Islamist rebels of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra”, Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki, and Liwaa Suqour after series of intense firefights in southern Aleppo.

According to battlefield reports from the southern Aleppo front, the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division – in coordination with Hezbollah, the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Aleppo City, Al-Ba’ath Battalions, and several Iraqi and Iranian paramilitary units – imposed control over the villages of ‘Aziziyah, Tal Mamou, and Talaylat after launching their assault from the recently captured town of Kafr Haddad.

   However, some two hours after taking full control of Talaylat, Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham conducted a counter-assault at Talaylat in order to retake this recently captured village from Hezbollah and the Syrian Armed Forces; this proved successful, as they imposed control over Talaylat before noon on Sunday.

   Following Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham’s recapture of Talaylat, they attempted to retake Tal Mamou from the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division; however, this proved unsuccessful, as the pro-government forces were able to route the Islamist rebels back towards Talaylat before they could infiltrate into the village.

   Despite losing Talaylat to Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, the Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance are now 13km east of the strategic Aleppo-Damascus Highway (M-5 Highway) and just 3km south of the village of Al-Hadher; these sites will be the primary focus for the pro-government forces in the coming days.

   On Monday morning, the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division – in coordination with Hezbollah, the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Aleppo City, Kataebat Al-Ba’ath (Al-Ba’ath Battalions), and several Iraqi and Iranian paramilitary units – imposed full control over the village of Talaylat after the Islamist rebel fighters from Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham recaptured this aforementioned site yesterday.

   Following the recapture of Talaylat, the Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance advanced to the strategic city of Al-Hadher, where they encountered very little resistance from the Islamist rebels of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki, and Liwaa Suqour Al-Sham protecting the southern district.

   According to a battlefield report from the National Defense Forces in Aleppo City, when the Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance entered the southern district of Al-Hadher, they discovered a  relatively empty city that appeared abandoned by its civilians, as the dilapidated buildings were all that remained of this battle zone.

   Pictures of Al-Hadher’s southern district were released by the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division after they entered and secured several building blocks; however, the latter did not indicate how far into the city they advanced.

   The battle for Al-Hadher will be an integral one for the Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance due to this city’s proximity to the Aleppo-Damascus Highway and the ICARDA building in the Idlib Governorate that has now turned into a military base for Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham.

   ISIS Prevents Civilians in East Aleppo from Fleeing as the Syrian Army Advances on the Kuweires Airport

   On Sunday morning, the Syrian Arab Army’s “Cheetah Forces” – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Aleppo City and Kataebat Al-Ba’ath (Al-Ba’ath Battalions) – continued their assault on the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham’s (ISIS) defensive positions inside the strategic town of Sheikh Ahmad, killing several enemy combatants from the terrorist group and destroying their weapons depot in the northern district.

   The firefights between the Cheetah Forces and ISIS inside Sheikh Ahmad have recently intensified after the arrival of a tank battalion from the Syrian Arab Army’s “Tiger Forces”; this has provided the Cheetah Forces a boost on the ground against the terrorist group’s stiff defenses and Deir Hafer Plains’ rugged terrain.

   Meanwhile, south of the Kuweires Military Airport, ISIS launched another assault on  Jabboul, striking the National Defense Forces’ positions at the eastern perimeter of this imperative town; however, for the second time in four days, the terrorist group was routed by the Syrian Armed Forces before they could reenter Jabboul.

   According to a battlefield report from the Tiger Forces in the Deir Hafer Plains, ISIS has blocked civilians from fleeing the area in an attempt to deter the Syrian and Russian Air Forces from striking their positions in east Aleppo.
