The source noted that Jabhat al-Nusra has switched from the offensive to the defensive and laid down retreat plans as a result of the Russian airstrikes and of the operations conducted by the Syrian Arab Army on the ground.

What sort of diplomatic agreement has Russia come to with Turkey?  The supply of weapons and now soldiers to the Syrian war from Russian has to go past/through Turkey, and the Turkish government hates hates hates Assad.  Did Putin meet with Erdogan and dictate terms from atop his skull throne?

I think the Russians already had a deal with the Turks over the use of the Bosphorus and Dardanelles before all this happened.

And what Turkey can do with Russians ships? They are part of military and Bosphorus legal status + international laws don't allow for Turkey to stop military ships just because they want.

This is the same Turkish government that's almost certainly supplying Daesh, right?  Prior to the Russian tactical air intervention, the Assad regime was not in a good place.  Would disrupting shipments for a few days be completely out of the question?

Polite Green Men are scary yo.

But I don't think Turkey can do anything to even try and stop them without either pissing off Europe, Russia, America, or all three. Probably all three. It would kinda ruin Turkey's wishes to be part of the EU.

Our supply line to Syria was active for 3-4 years already ("Syrian express") and Turkey never really tried to stop it. I think they will have big problems if they would try to stop it in political and military areas. Speaking about economy, attack on Russian ship will basically kill almost all Russian tourists income, which is noticeable, to say the least. And this is just what is easy and quick to do.

ISIS Suffers Another Defeat in the Kuweires Countryside as the Syrian Army and Hezbollah Capture ‘Arbeed

It is all quiet on the eastern front of Aleppo as the hits keep coming for the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) in the Deir Hafer Plains, where the aforementioned terrorist group has lost its fourth village to the Syrian Armed Forces near the Kuweires Military Airport in the last 48 hours.

On Wednesday night, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Aleppo City, Kataebat Al-Ba’ath (Al-Ba’ath Battalions), Hezbollah, Harakat Al-Nujaba (Iraqi paramilitary), and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) – continued their advance in the Kuweires Military Airport’s western countryside, attacking ISIS’ frontline defenses at the village of ‘Arbeed after capturing its neighbor to the west (Jadidah village) earlier in the day.

Following a series of intense firefights with ISIS, the Syrian Armed Forces, Lebanese Resistance, and their allies imposed full control over the village of ‘Arbeed, killing over 20 enemy combatants from the terrorist group while also seizing a large cache of weapons; these weapons included RPGs, assault rifles, ammunition, and IED material.

With the capture of ‘Arbeed, the Syrian Armed Forces have expanded their buffer-zone around the western countryside of the Kuweires Military Airport; however, it should be noted that the eastern perimeter of the base is still in danger due to ISIS’ presence around the village of Rasm ‘Abboud.

The Syrian Arab Army’s Central Command currently has its eyes set on the strategic Thermal Station that is located 6km west of the Kuweires Military Airport; if captured, they will have ISIS surrounded along the western flank of the Deir Hafer Plains.

Kuweires Defeat Creates Major Issues for ISIS: Supply Route from Raqqa to Aleppo Cutoff

The end of the Kuweires Military Airport’s long siege has created a world of problems for the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) inside the Deir Hafer Plains, as their once untouched supply route that stretched from the from the provincial capital of the Aleppo Governorate to the provincial capital of the Al-Raqqa Governorate has been cutoff by the Syrian Armed Forces.

The Kuweries Military Airport is strategically located 8km west of ISIS’ stronghold at Deir Hafer and 17km south of the imperative city of Al-Bab – both of these cities are separated by the Aleppo-Raqqa Highway.

Kuweires1.png

Deir Hafer is situated along the Aleppo-Raqqa Highway and it provides ISIS a gateway from their capital at Al-Raqqa to the entire eastern Aleppo countryside; without control of this highway, they will have to rely on the season roads that are within range of the Syrian Arab Army’s anti-tank missiles.

Without direct access to Al-Bab from Deir Hafer, ISIS will be forced to find another supply route that will likely take them much longer to travel through, which, in turn, will leave them vulnerable to airstrikes and other militaristic obstacles.

Another obstacle that ISIS faces as a result of this siege ending is the Syrian Army’s presence at the southern countryside of the Al-Bab Plains.

This is a much larger issue than one might assume because the Al-Bab Plains looks firmly under ISIS’ control; however, those small villages to the south of Al-Bab city are very poorly defended because the terrorist group had virtually no one threatening this area.

Now, the Syrian Armed Forces are able to cross the Aleppo-Raqqa Highway to harass ISIS’ poorly defended villages in the Al-Bab Plains and there is not much they can do about it.

Breaking: Syrian Army Enters the Strategic Marj Al-Sultan Airbase in Rural Damascus

Moments ago, the Syrian Arab Army’s 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Damascus City and the Palestine Liberation Army (PLA) – broke-through Jaysh Al-Islam’s (Army of Islam) defenses at the Marj Al-Sultan Military Airbase and reportedly entered this large compound in the East Ghouta (collection of farms) region of the Rif Dimashq Governorate.

According to a military source from the Syrian capital, the Syrian Armed Forces launched an early morning attack on Jaysh Al-Islam’s defenses on the army base located at the western sector of Deir Salman; this resulted in the Republican Guard forces imposing full control over this military installation at the southern perimeter of the Marj Al-Sultan Airbase.

Following the capture of the army base, the Republican Guard and their allies pushed towards the army terrain that is situated to the south of the helicopter fields, capturing half of the area before 8 A.M. (Damascus Time).

Currently, the Republican Guard and their allies are making a push towards the helicopter fields; if they are able to seize this airfield from the Islamist rebels of Jaysh Al-Islam, they will be in position to strike the village of Marj Al-Sultan from its southern flank.

Marj Al-Sultan Military Airbase has been under the control of the Islamist rebels since 2012; it was one of the first military installations that the militants from Jaysh Al-Islam (formerly “Liwaa Al-Islam”) captured during their summer offensive in the East Ghouta.

Breaking: Syrian Army and Hezbollah Capture 2 Villages in Southern Aleppo

The Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division – in coordination with Hezbollah, the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Aleppo City, Kataebat Al-Ba’ath (Al-Ba’ath Battalions), and several Iraqi and  Iranian paramilitary units – imposed full control over two villages this morning after a series of intense firefights with the Islamist rebels from Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki, the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra”, and Liwaa Suqour Al-Sham.

According to a battlefield journalist traveling with the SAA’s 4th Mechanized Division in Aleppo, the Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance captured the village of Musharfah Al-Murayj after losing it last week to the Islamist rebels of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki.

Following their capture of Musharfah Al-Murayj, the Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance advanced to the strategic village of Tal Al-Arba’een, where they were confronted by a large contingent of Islamist rebels from Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Liwaa Suqour Al-Sham; this resulted in a series of intense firefights on Thursday morning.

The Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance would impose full control over Tal Al-Arba’een after Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham’s frontline defenses crumbled, leaving the pro-government forces a clear pathway to the village center.

Both Tal Al-Arba’een and Musharfah Al-Murayj are important to the Syrian Armed Forces due to their proximity to the rebel stronghold of Al-Hadher.

Dude, I am from the USA.  I have literally no idea how international law works for puny countries like Turkey that can't just unilaterally bomb and blockade anyone who even slightly annoys them.
