Nice. Such things as Tunguska's cannons are almost useless against small UAVs, while missiles have problems in destroying them too.

That's nonsense, sorry. The issue in shooting down UAVs is not about the weapons used but about the sensor suite to find, track and aim. It doesn't matter if you use laser, missiles or cannons if you can't find the target.

The main advantage of laser is that it doesn't need to reload.

No, it's also depends on dispersion of shells. I saw video where Pantzir tried to shoot down small UAV - it was pathetic.

Does the 9M311 missile on the Tunguska complex have a nickname in Russian service? I have seen some places call it "Tre'ugolnik", which would be in line with other systems like 2K12 "Kub/Kvadrat", but can't find any proper references to it.

First time i hear about that nickname.

A new detail about Czech Spyder acquisition. The number of batteries is four as already announced but now we know that each battery is going to have three Python-5 launchers and one Derby launcher together with one Elta EL/M-2084 radar. The complete system will be mounted on Tatra 815-7 vehicles but that's hardly a surprise (moreover when Spyder was already addapted for Tatra chassis in India).

A contract for first S-500s was signed

Quote

As reported on July 29, 2021 by the TASS news agency, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation signed a contract with Concern VKO Almaz-Antey for the supply of the first batch of S-500 Prometey anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM), a source in the defense -industrial complex.

"The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation signed a contract with the Almaz-Antey concern for the supply of more than 10 Prometheus systems to the Aerospace Forces (VKS). Serial deliveries will begin in the first half of 2022," he said on the sidelines of the MAKS-2021 air show, which took place from 20 to 25 July in Zhukovsky.

According to the interlocutor of the agency, at present "state tests of the S-500 air defense system are continuing at one of the test ranges in the south of Russia." They are expected to be completed at the end of 2021.

The interlocutor noted that Prometheus is capable of destroying all existing and potential means of aerospace attack, including warheads of intercontinental ballistic missiles at altitudes up to 200 km and at ranges up to 500 km.

The source noted that the ground-based version of the S-500 air defense system is now undergoing state tests. "If necessary, it can become a shipborne one," he added.
