To be fair, Putin can put a lot more pressure on Turkey than the U.S. Putin probably threatened to squeeze erdogan's balls behind the scenes.

Again, I'd put more stock in the whole "Russians are influencing the American elections" if it weren't for the fact that the Democrats ran a really terrible candidate and a worse human being as their candidate. 

 

Also, I haven't seen the answer to "How" the Russkies supposedly influenced the election.

It's not his influence but Erodgan's opposition in the military. Many have seen the "coup" as a false flag to purge his opponents and led to the new paranoia within the Turkish government of suspected Gulenists hiding within its ranks. It is pretty likely that there will be an actual attempted coup in the future and one that Russia will definitely support if nothing had changed.
