I believe the Leopard Prototype (or part of it) that is in WoT is that Porsche prototype.  Haven't played that game for some time, so may be wrong.

Porsche was a member of the industrial group whose Leopard design was chosen for production. Likewise, they worked on an armored recovery vehicle starting in early 1962, their design for the Leopard bridgelayer was chosen in August 1970, and they were involved with the "gilded Leopard" improvement concepts in the mid-late 1960s.

Also nice is a story from CIA is how the Soviet Union supposedly acquired a Leopard 1 engine by ordering a yacht in West-Germany, which secretly was said engine. Interestingly the CIA document is a scan of the New Yorks Time article "A Defector Warns: What Fools".

I'm curious what the Kraut tank is in this newsreel, and whether it is a mock-up or an actual prototype.

 

A full view can be seen at the 0:45 mark. Looks more French inspired than your normal German Box Tank.

Ever wondered why Rheinmetall calls the LANCE turret a modular turret system (MTS)? Here is the explanation:

It's like lego, well at least sort of. That's why the Scout-SV turret is looks so different, while being based on the LANCE MTS modified by Lockheed Martin (afaik mainly allow the much different feed mechanism for the gun):

You can see that the Panther was enormous.  Slightly taller than the Tiger, actually.
