http://www.janes.com/article/56134/syrian-government-territorial-gains-just-0-4-since-russian-military-intervention

When territory losses to ISIS and gains vs Rebel groups are added SAA terriroty gain is .0.4 % or about 120 square km of territory, according to the Jane's analysis.

Can you not post this kind of crap? SAA&Co managed to gain over 500 km2 just in Aleppo province alone, and this operaton i covered pretty well (Al hader town and Kuweiris airbase). Add here retook territories in Al-Ghab plains, Northen Latakia (Ghummam/Gmam village and several villages north from it as well), East Ghouta and Duma (cleared highway, military helicopter base in southern part, etc.) and captured Sheikh-Miskeen in Deraa.

Also their map shows bunch of deserts under control of insurgents/militants, while in reality they are not under anybody "control".

I also want no note, as Viktor Murakhovskiy said, we need about 60 days to equip key frontline units well enough for assault operations. And add here about a week of re-organisation work in Russian VKS group in Syria.

Syrian Army Ambushes the Free Syrian Army at Sheikh Miskeen: 15 Militants Killed, 40 in 24 hours in total

Earlier today in the Dara’a Governorate’s northern countryside, the Syrian Arab Army’s 15th Brigade of the 5th Armored Division – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Izra’a – carried out a powerful ambush that caught the Free Syrian Army’s “Harakat Muthanna” off-guard along the Sheikh Miskeen-Inkhil Road.

According to a military source from the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Armored Division in Izra’a, the 15th Brigade and the National Defense Forces struck a contingent of about 20 militants from Harakat Muthanna while they were heading south on the Sheikh Miskeen-Inkhil Road towards the strategic city of Sheikh Miskeen in northern Dara’a.

The military source also added that at least 15 of the 20 enemy combatants from Harakat Al-Muthanna were killed during the ambush – a few of the militants were able to escape north towards Inkhil in order to evade the Syrian Armed Forces.

Over 40 militants from the Free Syrian Army and their affiliate groups have been reportedly killed in the Sheikh Miskeen countryside in the last 24 hours; this death toll came as a result of the Islamist rebel counter-offensive to retake the west district of this city.

Firefights are still ongoing between the Syrian Armed Forces and the Islamist rebels in western Sheikh Miskeen; however, the Free Syrian Army’s counter-offensive has been repelled by the 15th Brigade – they still control every site they captured in the last two weeks.

Breaking: Syrian Army Captures the Al-Zahi Mountains in Northern Latakia

Moments ago in the Latakia Governorate’s northern countryside, the Syrian Arab Army’s 103rd Brigade of the Republican Guard – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Qurdaha, the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), and Muqawama Souri (Syrian Resistance) – imposed full control over the Al-Zahi Mountains after an intense series of firefights with the Islamist rebels from the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” and the Free Syrian Army’s “1st Coastal Brigade.”

Immediately following the capture of the Al-Zahi Mountains, the Syrian Armed Forces imposed full control over Burj Al-Zahi in order to seize the entire area from the FSA’s 1st Coastal Brigade and Jabhat Al-Nusra in this mountainous part of the Latakia Governorate.

According to a military source in the city of Slunfeh, the Syrian Armed Forces – backed by the Russian Air Force’s MI-24 Hind Helicopter Gunships – killed over 25 enemy combatants from Jabhat Al-Nusra and the FSA’s 1st Coastal Brigade, while also destroying their command and control center that allegedly works closely with the Turkish military intelligence.

Over the last 48 hours, the Syrian Armed Forces have seized several sites from the Islamist rebels in the Turkmen Mountains (Jabal Al-Turkmen) of northern Latakia; this has prompted many militants to issue a distress call to their allies in Turkey.

Syrian Army and Hezbollah Capture the Village of Burj Al-Rouman in Southern Aleppo

On Friday morning in the Aleppo Governorate’s southern countryside, the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division – in coordination with Hezbollah, the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Aleppo City, Harakat Al-Nujaba (Iraqi paramilitary) and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) – launched a surprise assault on Jabhat Al-Nusra’s (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) defensive positions at the village of Burj Al-Rouman.

Following a morning of intense firefights with the Islamist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra, Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, and Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki, the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies broke-through the enemy’s defenses and imposed full control over Burj Al-Rouman; this attack resulted in the death of over 20 enemy combatants and the destruction of 6 armored vehicles that were mounted with a wide variety of anti-aircraft machine guns.

The village of Burj Al-Rouman is imperative to the security of the Khanasser-Aleppo Highway; it was used as a launching point for the Islamist rebels – particularly Jabhat Al-Nusra and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham – to close the Syrian Arab Army’s only supply route to the provincial capital of the Aleppo Governorate.

Not long after they imposed full control over Burj Al-Rouman, the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies advanced to the village of Al-‘Umariyah, which is situated to the southwest of the Syrian Government stronghold of Al-Safira.

RVV-MD AA missile in Syria?

2570823_1000.jpg

The photo, apparently done in Syria at the airbase "Hmeymim" near Latakia, shows "air to air" RVV-MD missile, developed and produced by MKB "Vympel", mounted on Russian fighter (apparently, the Su-30SM). If the photo is really made in Syria, it is the first known case of a seeing those missiles in the war zone.
