A guy in Eastern Bohemia was searching for historical remnants with a metal detector... he found 338 mortar rounds from WW2 burried some 1,5 meters deep underground. The article states it's 82 mm calibre, i.e. Soviet one. There were partizan units operating in these forests at the end of the war. Could be their ammo dump even though that would have to be from the last days of war because normally they used ony small arms and explosives in this area (the most prominent group active in that forest was an intelligence unit of Soviet 1st Ukrainean front lead by major Charitonov enlarged by escaped POWs, people from death marches, local resitance members but it was not the only group active in the area).

New guided artillery round for our 152 mm cannons is in development. Several guidance system will be avaliable, at least planned to be:

Quote

Preliminary tests of a prototype 152-mm guided high-explosive fragmentation projectile ZOF95 are planned to be carried out in the Nizhny Novgorod region, firing will be performed from towed howitzers "Msta-B" and D-20, as well as self-propelled gun mounts "Akatsia" and "Msta-S".

The new projectile will receive several options for homing warheads, inertial and satellite navigation systems, writes RIA Novosti, citing a source on Sunday, January 24. At the moment, work is underway to create "a whole line of new guided high-precision missiles of increased range", including the use as part of the "Coalition-SV" complex.

Excalibur army revealed a new SPH which seems to be a sort of further advanced and automated combination of Dana M2 and Slovak Zuzana 2 gun.

Info and photos, in English: https://dita.excaliburarmy.cz/

Main features:

- 155 mm L45 gun with maximum range 39 km with base bleed ammo

- full automation (emergency manual mode possible)

- only 2-men crew (driver and commander) operating full-time from an armoured cabin

- 40 ready-to-fire rounds

- selectable firing modes (single, continuous, programmed, multiple simultaneous hits on target)

- modularity (system can be installed on various chassis tracked or wheeled - standard is Tatra armoured chassis similar to Dana M1/2)

- rate of fire maximum 6 rpm, sustained 5 rpm

Hermes "2.0" is possibly in development, although it depends on what MoD will want to do with system after demonstration test are completed:

Quote

TsAMTO, February 2. The High-Precision Complexes holding of the Rostec state corporation plans to create a new Hermes 2.0 strike complex with a faster and more powerful missile. Earlier, the Instrument Design Bureau (KBP, part of the High-Precision Complexes) created a basic version of the complex - Hermes. Now it is undergoing demonstration tests for the Ministry of Defense at the Kapustin Yar training ground.

“This complex has great potential for further improvement. In this regard, experimental design work is planned, which provides for an increase in the combat power of the missile by 2-2.5 times and an increase in its flight speed. It will be a version of the Hermes 2.0 complex, - B. Ozdoev told the agency.

The Industrial Director recalled that the basic version of the Hermes high-precision missile system was first presented last summer. He added that "the capabilities of the complex meet the most modern requirements: the guidance system is autonomous and operates on the "fire and forget" principle, and its multiplatform nature allows it to be installed not only on armored vehicles and ships, but also on attack drones. In turn, the press service of the High-Precision Complexes holding informed the agency that the possibility of improving the characteristics of the Hermes, including its guided missile, was laid down during the design.

Viktor Murakhovskiy about system added a bit:

Quote

In those days, the epic, now almost forgotten, the division commander had his own means of long-range fire (and nuclear) destruction: tactical missile systems.

First "Luna, Luna-M" (range up to 70 km), then "Tochka, Tochka-U" (range up to 120 km). In motorized rifle, tank divisions there was a separate missile division (4 self-propelled launchers) of tactical missile systems (TMS).

In 1988, in line with the policy of "new thinking" of the General Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee Mikhail Gorbachev on the unilateral reduction of armaments, the ORDN divisions were disbanded, the missiles were transferred to the rocket brigades of the armies. Then the TMSs were gradually removed from service and replaced with Iskander-M operational-tactical missile systems (range up to 500 km). Meanwhile, the need to defeat the most important targets in the depth of the enemy's operational formation with the division commander's own means has not disappeared anywhere. The Iskander-M missile system is redundant for such tasks.

This is how the concept of the Hermes high-precision tactical missile system (range up to 100 km) was born, which grew out of the Hermes anti-tank land, air and sea-based systems. The Hermes-2 TMS with increased range and payload is being developed. Its competitors in this niche of weapon systems are tactical unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in strike configuration and loitering ammunition.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has supporters of both the TMS and the UAV / LM. The outcome of the competition is not yet predetermined. The advantages and disadvantages of different systems with respect to the tasks being solved, the conditions of combat use is a rather voluminous topic that may be disclosed in one of the publications of the Arsenal of the Fatherland magazine this year.

The tactical strike ability of the division commanders didn't disappear - they have had Smerch and Uragan. I'm quite sure that if we talk about conventional warfare these systems are much better for the task than what Luna was.

This ability actually really disappeared in many armies (including the our) but not in yours.

Smerch and Tochka-U are different type of weapons and i believe they are in different command structures.

New Russian fire and forget AT missile system is in development. Not sure if it is vehicle-carried only or for infantry as well.

Quote

KBP began developing new ATGM. This is no longer a highly specialized anti-tank weapon, but a multi-purpose defensive-assault weapon capable of effectively hitting not only typical targets - tanks or armored vehicles, but also a whole range of previously "unattainable targets" such as air targets, including unmanned aerial vehicles " said Ozdoev, without specifying the name of the system.

For missiles of the new multipurpose complex, combined homing heads, unique for ATGMs, are being developed with two channels at once - thermal and optical. "For the new complex, new tele-thermal imaging homing heads are being created. The new missile will be used according to the "fire-and-forget" principle, added the industrial director.

Yeah i knew they would never go ahead and make a thermal only AT missile , i always guessed it would be some kind of multi-guided system.

Using a monospectral only missile against a near peer enemy is not recommended , so its good that they're not doing it.

Bean soup overcooked. So i had to redirect the ballistic missiles away from the twin towers and into the home of the CEO of onlyfans

Belarussian company developed and offer equipment to do service check of Krasnopol laser guided artillery rounds.

Also it developed their own version of Krasnopol modernisation - Luch-1 and Luch-2. Luch-1 swaps few blocks of Krasnopol to newer one with newer electronics, which allows to increase payload to 9 kg of explosives, delete a need to open autopilot block to transfer data by moving sockets to artillery shell side section. Rear section is also changed to gas-generator, increase max range from 20 to 30 km.

Luch-2 further changes round with wireless data transmission to loaded shell, which decrease size of electronics block. It allows to increase payload even more, up to 12 kg of explosive. They also offer laser designator with tv and thermal imager channels.
