A guy in Eastern Bohemia was searching for historical remnants with a metal detector... he found 338 mortar rounds from WW2 burried some 1,5 meters deep underground. The article states it's 82 mm calibre, i.e. Soviet one. There were partizan units operating in these forests at the end of the war. Could be their ammo dump even though that would have to be from the last days of war because normally they used ony small arms and explosives in this area (the most prominent group active in that forest was an intelligence unit of Soviet 1st Ukrainean front lead by major Charitonov enlarged by escaped POWs, people from death marches, local resitance members but it was not the only group active in the area).

   New guided artillery round for our 152 mm cannons is in development. Several guidance system will be avaliable, at least planned to be:

- only 2-men crew (driver and commander) operating full-time from an armoured cabin

- modularity (system can be installed on various chassis tracked or wheeled - standard is Tatra armoured chassis similar to Dana M1/2)

- rate of fire maximum 6 rpm, sustained 5 rpm

Its competitors in this niche of weapon systems are tactical unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in strike configuration and loitering ammunition.

   The Russian Ministry of Defense has supporters of both the TMS and the UAV / LM. The outcome of the competition is not yet predetermined. The advantages and disadvantages of different systems with respect to the tasks being solved, the conditions of combat use is a rather voluminous topic that may be disclosed in one of the publications of the Arsenal of the Fatherland magazine this year.

The tactical strike ability of the division commanders didn't disappear - they have had Smerch and Uragan. I'm quite sure that if we talk about conventional warfare these systems are much better for the task than what Luna was. 

 

This ability actually really disappeared in many armies (including the our) but not in yours.

   Smerch and Tochka-U are different type of weapons and i believe they are in different command structures.

   New Russian fire and forget AT missile system is in development. Not sure if it is vehicle-carried only or for infantry as well.

Yeah i knew they would never go ahead and make a thermal only AT missile , i always guessed it would be some kind of multi-guided system.

 

Using a monospectral only missile against a near peer enemy is not recommended , so its good that they're not doing it.

   Belarussian company developed and offer equipment to do service check of Krasnopol laser guided artillery rounds.

   Also it developed their own version of Krasnopol modernisation - Luch-1 and Luch-2. Luch-1 swaps few blocks of Krasnopol to newer one with newer electronics, which allows to increase payload to 9 kg of explosives, delete a need to open autopilot block to transfer data by moving sockets to artillery shell side section. Rear section is also changed to gas-generator, increase max range from 20 to 30 km.

   Luch-2 further changes round with wireless data transmission to loaded shell, which decrease size of electronics block. It allows to increase payload even more, up to 12 kg of explosive. They also offer laser designator with tv and thermal imager channels.
