One of moded T-72B3M. Soft bag ERA is gone, several areas were covered by ERA and "anti-RPG net". No Sosna-U sight, lel. 1 step forward, 1 step back.

Addon side ERA is now in metallic boxes, hinged, giving at least 2 layers of ERA to incoming threats. LFP and area of self-digging dozer blade is also covered with ERA bricks, looks like K-1 boxes with unknown contents. Mudflaps also got ERA block in them, like on T-90M.

Area near gun mount also received ERA, but effectiveness of such placement is questionable.

Some sort of mounts on top of turret roof, probably for "umbrella", Note gunner sight highlighted - on normal Budget Cuts 3 they have Sosna-U FCS gunner sight.

Looks like they mounted a 1PN-96MT-02 sight with thermal imager instead, pic in red box shows photo from Army 2019 expo of that sight control panel.

4S20 ERA tiles in side blocks were used, at least on this specific tank.

BMPT wasting ammunition. Note unaimed fire and wombly guns. Also when vehicle starts to drive away grenade launchers are becoming useless when vehicle needs supressive fire to cover its ass. Another interesting point - 2 Ataka ATGMs launches in a single second, similar to Kornet's double tap.

Isn't that sight pretty decent?

No, not really. It uses an uncooled thermal detector and a has only one optical FOV (another FOV is available using digital zoom). It is not integrated with other optical systems, so laser rangefinder and day sight are separate systems. Worst aspect however is that it is not part of a FCS upgrade, so the old FCS is kept.

Performance is more comparable to the thermal sensors fitted to remote weapon stations rather than actual tank sights.

That tank is more like T-72B1 that was bitten by Budget Cuts 3 obr 2016 addon ERA kit. Sight is subpar and while solution/system is significantly inferior to the Sosna-U or/and Kalina.

Although rumors says UVZ now fully modernise 2-3 tanks per shift, which maybe a reason for rather poor upgrade to FCS.

But that specific tank was modernized at UVZ? Several months ago Putin had decreed the opening of 2 new big facilities dedicated for repairing tanks, perhaps also capable of doing some modernization/overhaul.

Does anyone have any info on the traverse and elevation range on the Terminator's two grenade launchers? They seem to have very little range of fire, making me wonder how it is worth the two extra crew men

No info on elevation, but horizontal arcs are 32 degrees (5 towards vehicle main body, 27 away from it)

The hull in the infantry section is higher, and together with the absence of the autoloader should make for a relatively comfortable seating positions, at least better than what you can get on BMP-2 and the like.

Actually, BMO-T is a great starting point if you wanted to develop an IFV based on the T-72 platform. They could just remove the front fuel tanks, as they did with the BMP-T and Koalitzia, and place there a dedicated gunner and the vehicle/squad cmdr, at the right and left to the driver respectively. That should free up space in the infantry section for at least an 8th dismount (making a full traditional 9 men squad counting the cmdr). For weapons, just put one of those unmanned turrets we´ve been seeing for Kurganets or T-15 with a 57mm gun and to top things of, integrate an APS to the thing, like Arena-M. Oh and replace the Kontakt 5 with Relikt/light ERA combo and there you go, a perfectly serviceable, top of the line heavy IFV that you can build out of some of the thousands of T-72 hulls the russians have over there rusting. Should work very well within tank brigades and regiments until the Armata platform takes over some time in the coming centuries.

That's the sensible thing to do, but turrets are where most of the cost and complexity is on a tank so it's not like it'll be that easy to produce
