Lend lease gear fought on Russian side , so why not keep that alive as well. Its great to see the old tanks in working order

 

Altough is easier to maintain the old russian tanks than american due to powerplants ,friend of mine owns a M36 Jackson ,which Yugoslavs re-engined with engine from T55 so its easy enough to keep running

   Yes, i saw that head bounce, still, BMD-4 hull was way less bouncy compared to BMP-2.

I guess it's meant against small UCAV bombs such as MAM-L. Even though it looks ridiculous it could well work against them and I wouldn't be surprised if this mod soon appears in Donbass.

Looks like its is targeted at protecting against Javelin and Spike that fuse on impact

 

But would theoretically work only if it damaged the warhead so it did not fuze or form the penetrator  otherwise hollow charge is not affected by added stand of distance especially when it comes to punching trough thin tank roof.
